Impact of Digitalization in the Eye Strain during Covid-19 Lockdown Period: An Epidemiological Study

Background: Over past few months due to COVID-19 lockdown, our society has been in indoor settings where the education, work and entertainment are through digital platform. This created an increase rate of eye strain. Method & materials: An epidemiological observational study conducted during lockdown period among people Kerala with a structured validated questionnaire using Google form. People age ≥ 18 years, screen on continuous basis were included study.Inform consent collected from participants before survey.The statistical analysis done SPSS software. Results Discussions: A total 584 participated more than 86% reported at least one symptom. Smart phone computer major platform used by mainly for learning entertainment.31% continuously >2hours.One fourth >9 hours 20% uses dark room or dim light >5 hours. 66% had mild 2.2% severe symptoms.Headache was common symptom found followed pain neck/shoulder/joint pain. Females be prone develop CVS. Headache, redness, burning, etc. correlated duration use. Conclusion: The screens demands high visual strain, much attention care should taken vision problems related issues.Since we depending many daily activities, information CVS associated discomfort along prevention strategies explained health professionals.
